Locomotor Training Center
Polinsky
Medical Rehabilitation Center therapists want you to walk with confidence.
Our locomotor training encompasses all components of walking – standing, balance,
stepping, strength, endurance and motor learning – for those who have suffered spinal
cord injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis
or lower extremity amputations. We employ state-of-the-art technology, using our Robomedica and LiteGait therapy.
Robomedica allows you to walk on a treadmill without the load of your entire body
weight. This therapy facilitates proper walking mechanics and proper muscle firing
to simulate normal walking. It helps you learn to walk again. Our therapists have
special training using Robomedica, which is the only one in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
LiteGait is a mobile harness-and-suspension system that maximizes function and minimizes
compensation when training to walk. It controls weight-bearing, posture and balance
over a treadmill or the ground. This allows a therapist to
put your legs and pelvis
into the correct walking position.
