Our facility

Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center is located in downtown Duluth, Minn., and overlooks Lake Superior. Our handicapped-accessible offices and therapy rooms are located on the first and second floors of 530 E. Second St.

We offer more than 20 therapy rooms, a therapeutic gym and even hallways designed for therapy work.

A variety of settings help children play with a purpose – and meet their therapy goals. A sensory integration room allows children to climb, crawl and feel their way through various obstacles. Our toy rooms are stocked full with sanitary, allergy-free toys. Another room offers foods of different textures and eating utensils of different shapes and sizes to help children with eating difficulties. An equipment room is lined with wheelchairs, canes, bikes and other devices. All help your child to better adapt to his or her life.

Adults and children use a large therapeutic gym filled with both simple and sophisticated rehabilitation equipment, such as the Balance Master, a computerized system that observes how you maintain your balance. Three quiet rooms meet the needs of patients who need fewer distractions during therapy sessions.

The vision rehabilitation room makes use of a piece of technology first designed to train hockey goalies. Dynavision helps our patients improve eye tracking, eye-hand coordination, eyes that have trouble working together and a field of vision lost to stroke or other brain injury. Dynavision is also used to test reaction time and field of vision for our driver’s assessment program. This technology and other state-of-the-art vision equipment and therapy enables you to make full use of your remaining vision.

For adults, a practice apartment helps patients relearn practical skills in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. A modified kitchen features adjustable kitchen counters and shelves where patients can practice everyday living skills and safety. Doorways throughout the center have been widened to allow for better accessibility.

Pool therapy is offered in the adjacent fitness and therapy center.
