Stroke Rehabilitation

Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center specializes in outpatient therapy for stroke survivors. Each patient’s program and treatment is based on his or her unique needs.

• A highly qualified team of professionals with extensive experience in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychology.

• Specialized technology to help with arm, wrist and hand impairments such as Saeboflex, a mechanical device that fits over your hand and allows you to improve your reach, grip and handshake as well as the general range and function of your hand and arm.
• Robomedica and LiteGait, state-of-the-art body weight support systems that helps patients relearn to walk
• Dynavision, a device that increases range of motion in arms and shoulders, improves balance and reaction times and teaches compensatory scanning strategies for those with visual impairments
• Digital Swallowing Station/FEES, which uses a fiber-optic scope to evaluate swallowing and provide video images to aid in therapy
• VitalStim, which uses electrodes to stimulate throat muscles used in swallowing
• Expertise in treating spasticity
