Neuropsychological services

Our consulting neuropsychologist at Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center evaluates children to determine cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

Our three- to eight-hour evaluation focuses on these cognitive skills:

  • Attention
  • Concentration
  • Information processing
  • Learning
  • Memory
  • Planning and problem-solving

Neuropsychological assessments may be appropriate for these medical conditions or disorders:

  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Brain tumor
  • Cancer
  • Cerebral hemorrhage
  • Complex learning disorder
  • Meningitis
  • Seizure disorders
  • Some developmental disorders
  • Stroke or other vascular disorders
  • Toxic encephalopathy
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Other neurological or medical disorders

Evaluations provide important information and assistance on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment, behavioral management, learning and academic progress, community and residential placement and general questions of safety.

Neuropsychological evaluations provide your doctor with a diagnosis and identify conditions that may require rehabilitation.
