Physical therapy
Physical therapists at Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center help children increase
their strength, balance, mobility and coordination to improve their functional mobility
and reach their highest level of independence.
We help with these skills:
- Coordination
and balance skills, such as standing one on foot or kicking a ball
- Gross-motor
skills, such as crawling, walking and running
- Increasing flexibility of muscles
and joints
- Strengthening through exercises on a variety of equipment
- Sensory
integration/sensory processing (in conjunction with occupational therapists) to
help with high level gross motor skills, body awareness and planning movement
Physical
therapists also do pool therapy and evaluate children for adaptive equipment, such
as wheelchairs, walkers, adaptive strollers, car seats and bath seats.
Among their
treatments are Kineso-taping, Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release.
